Nature Communications study uses Salipro® for serotonin receptor

How does serotonin trigger a response in our nervous system?

Misha Kudryashev and collaborators used the Salipro platform to unravel the molecular mechanism of serotonin signaling in ion channels. With Salipro® and cryoEM, the structure of the 5-HT3A serotonin receptor could be solved in three different states, and the serotonin binding site was resolved. Congrats to the investigators for their results, now published in Nature Communications:

Y. Zhang, et al., Asymmetric opening of the homopentameric 5-HT3A serotonin receptor in lipid bilayers. Nat. Commun. 12, 1074 (2021).
